Diamond Racing Welcomes Back Dave Connolly

Kempf Wins Big In Memphis

Diamond Pistons would like to congratulate Tom Kempf for taking the win in drag radial at the inaugural GM Performance Parts NMCA LSX Shootout. The event was held at Memphis Motorsports Park on October 10th-13th, this was the first event of its kind and gauging by the turn out I don't think it will be the last. The drag radial class turned out to be the who's who of LSX racing, with more and more racers favoring the radial tire to a traditional slick tire. With several racers boasting trap speeds in excess of 180mph and ETs well into the 7-second zone, this class was highly competitive and a great show for race fans.

When the dust settled Kempf and his team were declared the victors, and were awarded $3,000 in cash and a LS7 crate engine courtesy of GM Performance Parts. Like all great victories there is a story behind it, and this one is no exception. Three days before qualifying sessions were to begin in Memphis, Kempf hit the wall in a testing accident at over 150mph. At first glance, the car appeared to be totaled and the idea of making the event in quickly faded. After a nights sleep, one by one the crew poured into the shop at Stenod Performance and took to getting the car re-assembled and ready for action. After a trip to the frame rack, many called in favors, and sleepless nights the car was back under its own power and ready for battle. It was a week that this crew will remember forever, click below to see the final round video and the post race interview with Kempf and crew.
